Old Loggers' Trail is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 0.4 miles long, with a total round-trip elevation gain of about 570 feet, and it takes roughly half an hour to complete. The route starts at a low point of about 560 feet and climbs to a high of about 776 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.34 miles in, with a grade of about 26 percent. The trail is short enough to fit easily into a longer day in the area. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 82°F with only about two wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and rain on most days. Dog Mountain Trails and Dog Mountain both sit within a quarter mile, and Wyeth Campground is about 3 miles away. Climbers can find Viento Wall about 1.5 miles off.
