Lucky Camp Loop is a 3.15-mile moderate hike in the Sky Lakes Wilderness, part of the High Cascades Ranger District of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests in southern Oregon. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back with a front-loaded climb. The route starts at about 5,112 feet and reaches a high point of 5,439 feet, with a total gain of 651 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.1 miles in, where the grade reaches 18 percent. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not, and the trail is not accessible. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Crater Lake show July and August highs around 69°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the low 30s and rain on most days. Stuart Falls Trail is just 0.6 miles away, and Red Blanket Trail and Mckie Camp are both within about 2.6 miles. For an overnight stay, Bessie Shelter is about 4.2 miles off.
