Lone Pine Trail is an easy out-and-back hike of about 1.7 miles on the Crooked River National Grassland, part of the Ochoco National Forest in Oregon. The trail starts at roughly 2,420 feet and reaches a high point of about 2,423 feet, with a total climb of about 839 feet for the round trip. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.7 miles in, where the grade reaches about 21%. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Madras show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 78°F, while July and August average in the mid-80s. Horny Hollow Trail lies just 0.1 mile away, and Otter Bench and Pink Trail are within about a mile and a half. For an overnight stay, Whychus Crossing campground is about 6 miles off.
