Goose Lake is an easy, out-and-back hike of about 1.8 miles in the Three Sisters Wilderness, on the McKenzie River Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest in Oregon. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface route with no elevation gain, so it's a flat walk from start to finish. The trail is open to horses, and bikes are not allowed. The route is short and gentle, with the steepest stretch at about 0.05 miles in, where the grade reaches 7 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Wickiup Dam weather station show July highs around 83°F with only about three wet days, while winter highs sit in the low 40s. Porky Lake and Lake Side are both within about a mile and a half, and Mink Lake is about 2 miles away. For an overnight stay, Elk Lake Campground is about 6 miles off.
