Claimjumper Trail is an easy out-and-back hike in southern Oregon, about 3 miles from the town of Jacksonville. The trail is short, covering roughly 1.3 miles round trip, and rises just over 100 feet from its starting point to a high of about 3,018 feet. The climb is gentle for most of the way, but it reaches a steepest grade of 14% around the halfway mark. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Ruch, which sits well below the trail, show highs around 75°F in May and 72°F in October. July and August typically climb into the low 90s, and winter highs stay near 50°F. Several other trails sit close by. Arrowhead Pass Trail is about 0.1 mile away, Jackson Ridge Hiking Trail is about 0.4 mile away, and Twin Peaks Trail and China Ditch Trail are each about 0.6 mile away.
