Bottle Prairie is a hard hike in the Barlow Ranger District of Mt. Hood National Forest, about 9.6 miles long with a total elevation gain of 2,213 feet. It starts at an elevation of about 3,890 feet and climbs to a high point of roughly 4,927 feet, with the steepest stretch around mile 3.5. The trail is natural and not accessible, as noted in the Forest Service trail records. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Government Camp weather station show July and August highs around 70°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on most days. Knebal Springs and Knebal Springs Campground sit right next to the trail, and Eightmile campground is about 2 miles away. Climbers can head to Campfire boulders about 3.5 miles off the trail.
