Slide Creek is a Forest Service campground in the Prairie City Ranger District of Malheur National Forest in Oregon. It sits on national forest land managed by the Forest Service, and no fees are required to use the site. The only facility on hand is a vault toilet. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Seneca show July and August highs around 82°F with only three or four wet days a month, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s. Two trails start close by: the Slide Connector Trail and Onion Creek Trail #368, both about 0.7 miles away. Strawberry Campground is 1.7 miles off, and the John Day River, a canoeing route, is about 3.8 miles away.
