Boardstand Trail is a 12-mile, point-to-point moderate hike in the Choctaw Ranger District of Ouachita National Forest in southeastern Oklahoma. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land, and the trail crosses from a low point of 705 feet to a high of 1,431 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,176 feet. The climb is steepest at the start, with a 24% grade within the first 0.05 miles, and the trail also drops 1,494 feet over the course of the route. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Wister put April highs around 72°F and October highs near 76°F, while July and August average about 93°F. That station sits roughly 900 feet below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The trail is open to both horses and bikes, and the trip is estimated to take about 4.5 hours. Within a few miles are the Choctaw Nation Trail, the Old Military Road Trail for mountain biking, the Boardstand hike, and the Ouachita National Recreation Trail for mountain biking.
