Victory Wall is a climbing area in the Pisgah Ranger District of the National Forests in North Carolina, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among the high country of western North Carolina, and the Sam Knob Summit hike lies less than a mile away, making it an easy pairing for a day of climbing and walking. The area has 12 traditional routes, with grades ranging from 5.7 to 5.11-. The easiest is The Fabulous Thunderbird, a 5.7 first climbed by Eddie Begoon and Barry Love in 1986, and the hardest is Aces High at 5.11-. Rampage, a 5.8, and Battle of the Bulge, a 5.11a, are also among the standouts. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Toxaway show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 73°F, with July the warmest month at about 79°F. That station sits roughly 1,400 feet lower than the wall, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. Sam Knob Summit and Sam Knob are both within about a mile. Looking Glass Boulders and the Davidson River are each about 6 miles away.
