About Spy Rock

Spy Rock is a summit in New York, about 2 miles from the town of West Point. It sits among a cluster of short trails that make it easy to fold into a longer outing in the area. The most comfortable hiking comes in September and May, when typical highs at a nearby weather station in West Point run in the mid-70s to low 70s. That station sits well below the summit, so temperatures up top run cooler than those averages suggest. Several trails start close by, including the Tower Vue Trail and Chatfield Trail, both less than a mile away, and the White Oak Trail just beyond them. For something different, the climbing at Storm King Mountain is about 3 miles off.
