Torch Boulder is a bouldering area in Harriman State Park in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. It sits among several other bouldering spots, with Tarzan Swing and Welcome Boulders each about 0.1 mile away, and Oliphant Boulder at a similar distance. The White Diamond Trail is about 0.3 mile off for anyone who wants to pair a climb with a walk. The area has seven bouldering routes, all rated on the V scale. The easiest is Lean Out, Jr at V0, and the hardest is Lab Rat Arete at V8-9. Torch itself is a V3 boulder. The routes run from V0 to V8-9, with the median around V2. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 76°F, while July peaks near 84°F. The Ramapo River, about 4 miles away, offers river fishing, and Monksville Reservoir, roughly 8 miles off, is a lake fishing option.
