Poke-O Slab is a climbing area in New York's Poke-O-Moonshine Day Use Area, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with the Poke-O-Moonshine Main Face and Poke-O-Moonshine Second Tier both about 0.8 miles away. The area has five traditional routes, all rated between 5.6 and 5.9+. Catharsis is the easiest at 5.6, and Arch is the hardest at 5.9+. The routes were first climbed between 1957 and 1976, with Hot Bricks and Last Chance among the others. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Willsboro run to highs around 80°F in July, while winter highs stay near freezing. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the slab, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. Observer's Trail is half a mile away, and Sugarloaf Trail is about 2.4 miles off. Rattlesnake Mountain Trail and Benny's Trail are both within about 3 miles.
