The Wurtsboro Ridge State Forest Lower O&W Rail Trail is a short, easy mountain biking route in Wurtsboro Ridge State Forest in New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. The trail is about 0.7 miles from the town of Wurtsboro. The route is an out-and-back of about 1.4 miles with no elevation gain, so it's a flat ride that starts and ends at nearly the same level. The climb profile is back-loaded, and the steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.14 miles in, with a grade of about 6 percent. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Middletown run to highs around 70°F in May and 73°F in September, with July the warmest month at about 82°F. Several other trails sit close by.
