The D&H Canal Linear Park Towpath Trail is a short, easy mountain biking route in the Town of Mamakating, on city-managed land in New York. The out-and-back path is about 2.2 miles long, with no elevation gain, and the highest point is only about 528 feet. The trail is rated easy, and the route is mostly flat, with the steepest stretch at about 0.64 miles in, where the grade reaches about 4%. For comfortable riding, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Middletown show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 73°F, with July the warmest month at about 82°F. Dogs are allowed on the trail as long as they are leashed. The D&H Canal Linear Park Towpath Traill and the Mamakating O&W Rail Trail both lie about a mile away, and the Wurtsboro Ridge State Forest Lower O&W Rail Trail is about 1.5 miles off.
