Northwest Trail is a short, easy hike in the Mohonk Preserve in New York, a protected area managed by a non-governmental organization. The trail is a point-to-point route of about 0.4 miles, with a total elevation gain of 162 feet from a starting point around 696 feet to a high of 839 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.26 miles in, where the grade reaches 22 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Mohonk Lake weather station show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 73°F, while winter brings frequent snow days. The trail sits close to several other routes. Spring Farm Road and Table Rocks Trail are each about 0.1 mile away, and Cedar Drive is about 0.2 mile away. Climbers can find The Gunks about 3.9 miles off.
