June Bug Trail is a short, point-to-point hike in New York, about 1.5 miles from the town of Hammondsport. The route is roughly a mile long, climbing from a low point of about 724 feet to a high of 1,394 feet with a total gain of 650 feet. The trail is rated easy, and it can be done in about half an hour. The climb is most pronounced near the 0.8-mile mark, where the grade reaches about 19 percent. That makes the middle of the hike the steepest stretch, but it remains a manageable grade for an easy outing. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Bath weather station run from highs around 71°F in May to 75°F in September. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run a little cooler. Triad Trail lies just 0.6 miles away. Parker Nature Preserve Trail and Bristol Hills Branch Trail are both within about 5 miles.
