Chimney Top Trail is a short, easy hike in Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail is 0.56 miles long and rises about 80 feet from a starting point near 900 feet to a high point of 947 feet. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.5 miles, and the route ends with a small drop of 93 feet. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at West Point, NY, show May highs around 72°F and September highs around 76°F, while July peaks near 85°F and winter highs stay in the 30s. The trail is open year-round, and bikes are allowed. The Moneyhole Mountain Access Trail (Green) and Catfish Loop both lie within half a mile, and the Moneyhole Mountain Trail and the Appalachian Trail are each about a mile away.
