The 1777 Trail is a 2.9-mile point-to-point hike in Harriman State Park in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. It rises from a low point of about 59 feet to a high of 848 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,280 feet. The route is rated moderate, and the climb is spread across the middle of the hike rather than concentrated at the start or end. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. The trail is not open to bikes or horses. Plan on about 1.5 hours for the trip. Timp Pass Road lies about 0.6 miles away, and the Doodletown Bridle Path and Jones Trail are each about a mile off. Climbers can find Blue Mountain Park roughly 3.9 miles away.
