Enchanted Forest is a cross-country skiing route in the Questa Ranger District of Carson National Forest in northern New Mexico, about 4 miles from the town of Questa. The loop covers roughly 4 miles, with a total elevation gain of about 650 feet, rising from a low point of about 9,680 feet to a high of about 10,040 feet. Winter is the natural season for this kind of outing. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Red River show January highs around 35°F with lows near 7°F, while July and August bring highs in the mid-70s and the most wet days of the year. That station sits well below the route, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. Several other trails lie within a few miles, including Old Pass Trail and Goose Creek Trail #65. Junebug Campground and Fawn Lakes are both within about 6 miles for an overnight stay.
