Torreon is a climbing area in the Sandia Mountain Wilderness, part of the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits within designated wilderness, which makes it a compact, high-country destination for climbers. The climbing here is all trad, with seven routes spread across a range of grades from 5.10a to 5.12b. The median grade is 5.11-, so expect a mix of solid intermediate and challenging climbs. Among the named routes are Crossroads at 5.10a, Voodoo Child at 5.11d and The Sorcerer at 5.12b. The area is close to several other climbing spots, including La Cueva Canyon, Upper, about 0.1 mile away, and Hole in the Wall and Andy Boy Wall, each about 0.2 mile off. Hikers can also find the Crest House Spur Trail and the North Crest Trail within a third of a mile.
