Ted's Head is a bouldering area in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest, about 6.7 miles from the Sandia Park weather station in New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the land, and the climbing sits right alongside several other routes and trails, making it easy to combine with a longer day on foot or on stone. The area is a cluster of boulders, with six routes in total, all bouldering, and the grades range from V2 to V6. Among them are the 2nd Amendment at V2, the Tom's Thumb at V5 and the Freedom Fritters at V6. The Ted's Head route itself is rated V4-5. The bouldering pairs naturally with the Lower La Cueva Canyon climbing area, just 0.1 mile away, and the La Cueva Trail and Tierra Monte South Trail, each about 0.2 mile off. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons to visit. Typical averages from the Sandia Park weather station, at 7,030 feet, show May highs around 73°F and October highs around 65°F, while winter lows drop to the teens and twenties. Other climbing close by includes the Lower La Cueva Domes (History Slabs) at 0.4 mile and the Gemstone West at 0.5 mile.
