East Slabs is a climbing area in the Organ Mountains Wilderness of southern New Mexico, on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management's Las Cruces District Office. It sits within the wilderness, so it is a backcountry destination rather than a developed recreation site. The area has nine routes, most of them trad, with grades ranging from 5.5 to 5.8+. Walking Upright is the easiest at 5.5, and La Mancha and the Normal Route are both 5.7. The Great Bowl/Ball Nut Courage and Misty routes are 5.8, and Dick's Delight is 5.8+. Several other climbing areas are close by. Sugarloaf East Wall is about 0.2 miles away, and Sugarloaf's Stepchild and Sugarloaf are each about 0.3 miles away. Organ Needle is about 1.2 miles off. For an overnight stay, Aguirre Spring Recreation Area and Campground is about 1.5 miles away.
