Shooting Marbles is an easy out-and-back hike in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest, about 2 miles from the town of Sedillo, New Mexico. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and runs about 4.4 miles round trip, with a one-way climb of roughly 270 feet from a low point of about 7,100 feet to a high of about 7,400 feet. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Sandia Park weather station show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 77°F, with July and August warming to about 83°F. Several other hikes sit close by. Five Hills is about 0.2 miles away, Squirrel Run about half a mile, and Gear Grinder and Lower Pine each about 0.7 miles. Climbers can find the Ranger Station Wall about 4 miles off.
