Red Canyon is an easy hike of about 1.9 miles in the Manzano Mountain Wilderness, part of the Mountainair Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that gains about 815 feet in elevation. The route starts at a low point of about 8,811 feet and climbs to a high of about 9,646 feet. Horses are allowed, so the trail works for riders as well as hikers. The Red Canyon Trail (89) lies about 0.6 miles away, and the Spruce Spring Trail (189) is about 1.1 miles off. Ox Canyon is about 1.6 miles away, and the Manzano Mountains climbing area is about 2.6 miles away.
