Pine Shadow Trail is a hard hike in the Manzano Mountain Wilderness, part of the Mountainair Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is an out-and-back that covers about 10.5 miles with a total elevation gain of about 2,688 feet. The route starts at a low point of about 7,231 feet and climbs to a high point of about 9,928 feet. The trail lies entirely within designated wilderness, so plan for a backcountry experience. The Manzano Crest hike begins just 0.1 mile away, and the Kayser Mill and Monte Largo Trail hikes are each about half a mile off. Climbers can find the Manzano Mountains climbing area roughly 4.7 miles away.
