Pine Shadow is a hard hike in the Manzano Mountain Wilderness, part of the Mountainair Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico. The route is an out-and-back that climbs from about 7,244 feet to about 9,472 feet, with a total elevation gain of 2,308 feet over a distance of about 7.1 miles. The trail is on natural surface, and horses are allowed. The hike lies within designated wilderness, and the Forest Service manages the land. It is open year-round, so it can be done in any season. Several other routes start close by. Manzano Crest is about a mile away, and Pine Shadow Trail and Kayser Mill are each within about a mile and a half. The Grand Enchantment Trail is also nearby, about 1.4 miles off.
