Lost Lake is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Pecos Wilderness, part of the Pecos-Las Vegas Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest in northern New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land, and the trail runs entirely on natural ground. The route is about 4.4 miles long, with an elevation gain of 1,130 feet, from a low of about 9,088 feet to a high of about 10,233 feet. That makes it a steady climb over roughly two miles of trail, with the final stretch heading up to the lake. Rociada lies about 1.7 miles away and Sky Line about 3.3 miles, both good options for linking into a longer day. Iron Gate campground is about 6 miles off, and Jacks Creek campground is about 7.9 miles away for an overnight base.
