Los Pecos is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, about half a mile from the trailhead. The route is just over a mile long, with a low point of 7,228 feet and a high of 7,274 feet, so the climb is gentle, rising only about 34 feet from start to finish. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Sandia Park weather station run to highs around 73°F in May and 77°F in September, while winter highs sit in the low to mid 40s. Several other trails start within a short distance, including Short Marbles, Cresta Vista and the Cresta Trail, all about 0.4 miles away. Climbers can find the Bouldering Cave area roughly 4.5 miles off.
