Holden Prong Trail #114 is an expert-level out-and-back hike in the Black Range Ranger District of Gila National Forest in southwestern New Mexico, about 6.6 miles from the town of Kingston. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and covers roughly 18.8 miles round trip, with a one-way elevation gain of 2,540 feet. The route starts at about 6,253 feet and climbs to a high point of 8,728 feet. The trail is a long, steep commitment. Plan on a full day or more, and expect to spend time on your feet as you work your way up the mountain. The climb is one way, so the round trip adds twice the elevation gain. Railroad Canyon Trail #128 lies just 0.1 mile away, and Gallinas Canyon Trail #129 and Ladrone Gulch Trail #127 are each about 2 miles off. For an overnight base, Iron Creek Campground is about 3.4 miles away.
