Guaje Canyon Trail is a short, easy hike on land managed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in northern New Mexico, about 3.6 miles from the community of Puye. The trail is an out-and-back route of about 1.4 miles, with a low point of 6,400 feet and a high of 6,536 feet, and it gains about 131 feet of elevation one way. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Los Alamos weather station show May highs around 70°F and October highs around 63°F, while July and August bring the most wet days, about 13 to 14 a month. Guaje Canyon Trail 282 starts just 0.1 mile away. Sportsman Boulder - Rendija Canyon, a climbing area, is about 0.9 mile off, and Deer Trap Mesa Trails and Beanfield Ridge (820) are each about 1.2 miles away.
