Cabra Loop is a 6-mile out-and-back hike in the Espanola Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest in northern New Mexico. The land is managed by the Department of Energy, and the trail sits at a natural surface with bikes allowed. The route gains about 620 feet in elevation, from a low point of roughly 6,950 feet to a high of about 7,560 feet. It is rated moderate, and the climb is spread across the full length of the loop. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Los Alamos weather station show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 74°F, while July and August bring the most wet days. Several other trails start close by. Guaje Mountain Trail is about 0.1 mile away, Rendija Canyon Trail is about 0.4 mile away, and Pajarito is about 0.5 mile away. Climbers can find Los Alamos & White Rock about a mile off.
