East Fork Santa Barbara is a hard hike in the Pecos Wilderness, part of the Camino Real Ranger District of Carson National Forest in northern New Mexico. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that climbs from about 10,344 feet to about 12,137 feet over roughly 9 miles, with a total elevation gain of about 1,815 feet. The route is rated hard, and it is not open to bikes. Horses are allowed. The trail lies within designated wilderness, so plan for a backcountry experience. Nearby, the Jicarita Peak Route and Horseshoe Lake are both within about 2 miles. For an overnight base, Santa Barbara campground sits about 4.6 miles away, and Agua Piedra Campground is about 7.4 miles off.
