Caledonia is an easy, short out-and-back hike in New Mexico's Aldo Leopold Wilderness, within the Black Range Ranger District of the Gila National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced and open to horses, so riders can join the walk. The route runs about 1.8 miles and rises roughly 236 feet, from a low of about 7,833 feet to a high of about 8,077 feet. It works as a quick outing in the wilderness, and the trail is accessible to horses. Several other hikes sit close by. Caledonia Trail #42 is about 1.4 miles away, and Byers Run Trail #813 is about 2 miles off. North Fork Palomas Trail #105 and Fisherman Canyon are each about 2.5 miles from the trail.
