The Playground, also known as The Mall, is a climbing area in the La Madre Mountain Wilderness, on Bureau of Land Management land within the Red Rock/Sloan Field Office in Nevada. It sits in the wild country of the La Madre range, a few miles from Red Rock Canyon Campground, and the surrounding terrain is managed by the BLM. The area is a compact cluster of boulders and rock faces, with several named climbing spots within about a tenth of a mile, including Monkey Bar Boulder, Hot Tub Club and Bill's Boulder. It pairs naturally with Kraft Mountain Loop Trail, which starts just as close by. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 75°F with lows near 50°F, and April highs near 70°F. Summer is hot, with July and August highs typically in the mid-90s. The climbing here ranges from trad to sport, with grades from 5.9+ up to 5.11d. Practice Crack is a 5.9+ trad route, and Country Bumkin is a 5.11a sport route.
