Valley View Loop is an easy, out-and-back hike of about 3 miles in the Carson Ranger District of Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The trail starts at roughly 4,910 feet and climbs to a high point of about 4,987 feet, with the steepest stretch around 1.4 miles in at a 10% grade. The total elevation gain is about 156 feet, so the route is short and gentle. The most comfortable months for a visit are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Minden weather station show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 83°F, while July and August average about 90°F. The Fay-Luther hike lies about 0.3 miles away, and the Fay-Luther-Jobs Peak Ranch Trail is about half a mile off. Across the state line in California, the West Fork Carson River offers canoeing about 4.8 miles away, and Hope Valley campground sits about 5.9 miles away.
