Sierra Vista is an easy out-and-back hike of about 2.3 miles on the Carson Ranger District of Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada, on city-managed land. The route starts and ends at about 5,126 feet, with a high point of 5,185 feet and a total elevation gain of about 44 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.57 miles in, with a grade of about 6 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Stead weather station show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 79°F, while July averages about 89°F and winter brings highs in the low 40s and a few snowy days a month. The Sierra Vista Connector mountain biking trail lies just 0.1 mile away, and the West Intermediate Perimeter Trail is about half a mile off. Climbers can head to Ice Cubes, The, about 1.7 miles away, and paddlers will find Alum Creek roughly 3.3 miles away.
