North Fork Timber Creek is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Ely Ranger District of Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, about 4 miles from the trailhead. The route rises from a low point of about 9,059 feet to a high of about 11,038 feet, with a total elevation gain of roughly 1,850 feet over a round trip of about 4.2 miles. The trail is on natural surface and allows horses, so riders can take it as well as hikers. Bikes are not permitted. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open from about June 15 through October 30. South Fork Timber Creek lies just 0.1 mile away, and Timber Creek Campground is about 0.6 mile off. The North Fork Timber Creek Trail and the North Schell Peak Summit Route are both about 1.3 miles away.
