North Fork Big Wash Trail is a 13.4-mile out-and-back hike in Great Basin National Park in Nevada, managed by the National Park Service. The route starts at about 9,878 feet and climbs to a high point of 9,929 feet, with a total elevation gain of 4,853 feet over the course of the trip. That makes it a demanding outing, and the trail is rated expert. The hike is a full-day commitment. Plan for about seven hours on foot, and expect the climb to be the most significant part of the route. The trail begins at a high elevation, so the climb is not a gradual one. There is no fee to enter the park, and the trail is open year-round. The closest neighbors are the Highland Ridge Route, about a mile away, and the Dead Lake Trail and Snake Overlook Loop Trail, each roughly 2.4 miles off.
