The route climbs from a low point of 7,386 feet to a high of 8,369 feet, with a total gain of 1,591 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 1.2 miles in, where the grade reaches 23%. The trip takes about two hours. Summer is the most comfortable time to go.
