James Lee Loop 2 is an easy, out-and-back hike of about 1.9 miles in the Carson Ranger District of Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The trail rises from a low point of about 4,800 feet to a high of about 4,933 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 132 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is natural-surfaced, so it works for hikers, riders and horseback travelers. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Carson City show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 81°F, while July averages about 90°F and winter highs sit in the mid-40s. The trail is open from June 1 to October 15. James Lee Loop 3 lies about 0.3 miles away, and Clear Creek Trail is about half a mile off. Climbers can head to Dinosaur Rock, about 2.1 miles away, and the Carson Ranger District Office is about 4.8 miles away.
