Ice Plant Canyon 2 is an easy hike in the Ely Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 2.9 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 351 feet, and it makes an out-and-back route from a low point of about 6,900 feet to a high of about 7,240 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Ruth weather station show July highs around 84°F with lows near 47°F, while winter brings highs in the upper 30s and regular snow days from December through February. Several other routes sit close by. Tin Pan Alley and Ice Plant Loop are each about 0.2 miles away, and Ice Plant Canyon is about half a mile off. For an overnight stay, Ward Mountain Campground is about 4.4 miles away.
