Emerald Basin is a moderate hike of about 4.6 miles in the Jarbidge Wilderness, part of the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in northeastern Nevada. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that gains about 322 feet from a low point of 9,173 feet to a high of 9,722 feet. Horses are allowed on the trail, and bikes are not. The route is short enough to fit into a day of exploring the surrounding area, which is a network of trails and rivers in the Jarbidge country. The West Marys River - Camp Draw Trail starts less than a mile away, and the Jarbidge River to Mary's River hike is about 1.7 miles off. For an overnight base, Lower Bluster Campground and Pine Creek Campground sit roughly 5 miles away.
