The Dentist Area is a sport climbing area in the Rocky Mountain Ranger District of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest in Montana, managed by the Forest Service. It sits close to the Main Wall - West End and Blow-Hard Wall climbing areas, both about 0.1 mile away, and Blackleaf Canyon, about 0.3 mile away. The climbing here is all sport, with seven routes spread across the area. Their grades run from 5.10a to 5.11d, with the median around 5.11a. Named lines include Dirty Dentist at 5.10a, Braces at 5.10d, Root Canal at 5.11a and Morphine at 5.11d. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical July and August highs reach about 80°F with lows in the mid-40s, based on averages from a nearby weather station at Blackleaf. That station sits roughly 1,500 feet lower than the Dentist Area, so temperatures at the climbing spot run cooler. For a break from the rock, the Cow Creek hike is about 0.9 mile away. West Fork Cabin and West Fork Campground are both about 5 miles off, and the North Fork Teton River offers paddling at a similar distance.
