Sheldon Mountain E is a mountain biking route in the Libby Ranger District of Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana, about 3.4 miles from the community of Green Acres. The Forest Service manages the land. The route is a short, steep climb. It starts at about 2,901 feet and rises to about 3,702 feet over 1.5 miles, with a total gain of 772 feet. The steepest stretch comes early, around 0.2 miles in, with a grade of about 22 percent. The climb also includes a drop of about 447 feet, so the route is not a straight ascent. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Libby show July and August highs around 89 to 90°F, with lows in the upper 40s. That station sits well below the route, so temperatures on the mountain run cooler. Sheldon Mountain A, a hike, is just 0.2 miles away, and Sheldon Mountain D, another mountain biking route, is about half a mile off. Timberlane Campground, roughly 3.2 miles away, offers a place to stay. Pipe Creek, about 6.2 miles away, is a paddling option.
