Sheldon Mountain A is a short mountain biking route in the Libby Ranger District of Montana's Kootenai National Forest. The ride is about half a mile long and climbs roughly 390 feet from a low point of 2,990 feet to a high point of 3,404 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 23% grade near the 0.23-mile mark. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable windows. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Libby run to highs around 73°F in May and 78°F in September, while July and August climb to the high 80s. That station sits about 1,300 feet below the route, so temperatures on the climb run cooler. The Sheldon Mountain Tie J hike starts about 0.2 miles away, and Sheldon Mountain E and Sheldon Mountain D are both within half a mile for more mountain biking.
