Wildcat Mtn. is a hard hike of about 11 miles in the Hungry Horse Ranger District of Montana's Flathead National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It's an out-and-back route with a total climb of about 5,792 feet, starting near 6,600 feet and peaking at 6,616 feet. The steepest stretch comes around mile 2, where the grade reaches about 33 percent. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows bikes, so it works for hikers and riders. The open season runs from June 1 to September 30, and the trip takes about 6.5 hours. Flossy Creek lies just 0.4 miles away, and Clayton Creek is about 1.7 miles off. For an overnight stay, the Flossy Bay Dispersed Camp sites sit roughly 2.7 miles from the trail. Pioneer Ridge, a mountain biking route, is about 2.9 miles away.
