Welcome Creek is a hard hike in the Welcome Creek Wilderness, part of the Missoula Ranger District of Lolo National Forest in western Montana. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is a natural-surface out-and-back that climbs from about 4,000 feet to about 7,100 feet over roughly 15.7 miles, with a total gain of about 2,800 feet. Dalles Campground sits just 0.4 miles away, and Grizzly Campground is about 2.3 miles off, so either makes a natural base for a trip. Grizzly Creek and Ranch Creek are both hikes about 2.4 miles from the trail.
