Roaring-Argosy is a hard hike in the Great Bear Wilderness, part of the Spotted Bear Ranger District of Flathead National Forest in northwest Montana. The trail is an out-and-back that climbs from about 4,900 feet to roughly 7,280 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 2,000 feet over a route of about 22 miles. The trail is natural-surface and not accessible. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is open year-round. The climb is long and steep, and the high point sits well above the low point. The trail is best suited for a full day, and the surrounding wilderness makes it a destination for those planning a longer stay in the area. Nearby hikes include Dolly Varden-Pentagon, about 1.3 miles away, and West Side Big River and Capitol Mtn., each about 2 miles off. Silvertip Cabin, about 9 miles away, offers a place to stay.
