Moose Peak is a 5.5-mile out-and-back hike in the Glacier View Ranger District of Montana's Flathead National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises from about 5,700 feet to a high point of 7,531 feet, with a total elevation gain of 1,821 feet. It is a moderate route, and the trail surface is natural, so plan on a steady climb over natural ground. The trail is open year-round, and the Forest Service allows both horses and bikes. Moose Lake Campground sits just 0.1 mile away, making it the natural base for an overnight stay. The Deadhorse Ridge Moose Lake hike is about 1.4 miles off, and Hallowat Creek, a cross-country ski area, is about 1.5 miles away. For more time on foot, the Deadhorse-Elelehum hike lies about 4.7 miles away, and the Forks Patrol hike is about 4.9 miles away.
