Green Fork is an 8.8-mile out-and-back hike in Montana's Scapegoat Wilderness, within the Rocky Mountain Ranger District of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and lies entirely within designated wilderness, so it is a backcountry outing. The route begins at about 6,006 feet and climbs to a high point of 6,908 feet, with a total elevation gain of 860 feet. It is a natural-surface trail, and horses are allowed, while bicycles and accessible access are not. The trail is open year-round. For a shorter outing, Cigarette Creek is less than a mile away, and Half Moon is about 2 miles off. Wood Lake Campground, roughly 4 miles from the trailhead, is the nearest place to camp, and the Green Fork Connector offers a link to another route at about 2.4 miles.
